Jewellery of the Year 2009
Bracelets are enjoying enormous success on global catwalks and also in the Gem of Polish Jewellery 2009 competition organised by the Polish Jewellery Publishing House. The readers of the www.pb.info.pl web portal chose the jewellery of 2009: bracelets intertwined with pendants and earrings, all of them in silver. In a nutshell, the bracelet and silver are the Queen and King of the competition!

The competition’s trends of choice in fact represent art jewellery in different varieties, with designers’ concepts expressed in diverse techniques and converted into all-familiar forms which are surprising in the colour of their accessories and present a different outlook on silver.
Jewellery is beauty and the selected pieces are an encouragement to look into the world of Polish gems.

The world of silver valuables opens up with the Heavenly Bodies bracelet by the A2 Andrzej Adamski Jewellery Studio. It’s an original piece where classic silver meets blue tinted silver, gilded silver and natural “blue” amber. This nonpareil combination is recommended to the bold woman who likes the play of colours and has a liking for the Gold of the Baltic.

The Mastery bracelet by Magdalena Zienkiewicz is the designer’s debut on the Polish jewellery scene. And as you can see it’s a success. Women who like the combination of silver with brass and glass elements will be enthralled by the piece’s form and its three-colour radiance.

The next silver bracelet comes as a Broken Wing from Iza Malczyk (Trend). Its simple form, fragile appliqués and a small onyx make the bracelet a favoured piece to accessorise for both casual wear and low-key celebrations.

The Lunar Landscapes set by Anna Horsecka combines silver with amethyst and enamel. The bracelet entices us with its rectangular form, elegance and calm colours. Its fastening and wing-shaped structure are definitely intriguing. The set accessorises a unique businesswoman’s suit.

The Magic of Walnuts set of a necklace and bracelet by Basia Pacześna-Vercueil has clearly been inspired by the world of nature. A detailed reproduction of walnuts in metal shows us that nature is an unequalled creator of unique forms. The sensitivity of an artist can turn them into eye-catching jewellery.

Designed by Grzegorz Wydro of Galeria Venus, the Maple Leaf and Lily are a proof that even a leaf or a flower found during a walk in a park can become an artist’s source of inspiration. Such pieces are ideal to accessorise your clothing in any season of the year.

The unsettling and mysteriously looking Domination pendant from the Hanna Makarsky Collection – Eltrim Company is recommended for the adventurous woman. An intriguing combination of silver and agate embodies primitive beauty seasoned with a touch of the esoteric.
The winning 10 is rounded up by a new arrival in classic jewellery: the Ruby Lady set of earrings by Małgorzata Domańska. It evokes the memory of treasures found in grandma’s coffers. Matt and dark silver combined with the deep red shine of Swarovski crystal in itself makes for a beautiful accessory to an evening dress.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote that "In order to achieve greatness, a man must create, not recreate”; let us make it a motto of the next edition of The Gem of Polish Jewellery, to which you are invited in a year’s time.
