Lidia Popiel, Amber Ambassador
Lidia Popiel – renowned photographer, former model, actress, teacher to young photography trainees at the Warsaw Film School and fashion columnist for The Fifth Avenue supplement to Rzeczpospolita daily – has become the first amber ambassador in the world. She received her nomination from Mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz in Warsaw on October 5.

The Amber Ambassador project belongs to a series of the Mayor’s promotional activities within the Gdańsk: The World Capital of Amber programme. Every two years, the Mayor of Gdańsk will nominate amber ambassadors from among celebrities in the worlds of fashion, culture, business or politics, both from Poland and abroad. The role of the ambassador is to wear amber jewellery in both everyday situations and formal meetings, give interviews, endorse the importance of amber in human life, take part in selected events organised by the city, promote the Gdańsk amber brand and publicise the leading amber businesses, support them in their promotional and advertising campaigns pursuant to individual agreements.
